Sometimes, short notice shows can
be a disaster, We were not able to get the kids together to do this one
because of work commitments, but decided to go ahead and do what we could.
We'd got a distress call midweek, a party was organised, Cliff fans were
coming from all over
the country and from Finland and Marilyn didn't want to let anyone down, but
she now had no ACT to entertain them. Well, never to be put off by a
challenge we set out on Friday at 12.00 to fight traffic and got to the
Swallow Hotel, Swindon at 5.00pm. The room had been beautifully decorated
with Cliff pictures on the walls, with balloons, Cards and perfumes on
every table. It's always difficult to step into someone else's shoes at the
last minute and
were apprehensive when we joined the party, only to find past friends from
Birmingham and the boat trip, already in and thrilled to see us. A lovely
buffet was provided and we were thrilled to be included in this. Thank you.
Pete took off with Move It, and gradually
everyone got into the spirit of the party and joined in, shadow walks to
The Young Ones and Pete bopping on the dance floor singing Congratulations
to birthday girl, Tuire. We did a variety of new and old Cliff songs and it
was a wonderful site to see balloons being waved during Somewhere
Over the Rainbow/What a wonderful World. Pete got Marilyn onto the stage and
thanked her for everything she'd done, and finished the show with Miss You
nights.
We were presented with a most
beautiful bunch
of flowers and chocolates, decanter and a card signed by everyone
thanking us for the evening, we even got a present from Finland. You made us
feel so at home with you all. Colin's Disco followed and we were able to let
our hair down and enjoy everyones company, Marilyn even gave us all a song
which was smashing.
Here are a few photos we
took, but if anyone
would like to send us theirs, we would love to add them to the site. We
would like to thank everyone for giving us such an enjoyable evening, your
emails and best wishes have been very much appreciated, and we really do
hope to see you all again soon.
