the Legends show is a show created by our friends The
Saints. We were so pleased to be asked to join their show and had a
fabulous time. This one was played in a village called March, in
Cambridgeshire, and went so well the club have booked it again for next
year.
Elle opened the evening with her
tribute to the great Brenda Lee. It's a real treat having songs like
Dynamite and Speak To Me Pretty performed by Elle wearing a satin 50's
swing skirt and white satin top. Lovely. She got the house swinging. Next
she sang Sweet Nothin's and Here Comes That Feeling, followed by All Alone
Am I and As Usual. Elle couldn't finish the set without doing Let's Jump
the Broomstick and really did us proud, We had some great jivers in the
audience and they thrilled us with their moves right from the off.
Next came Darren as Elvis
Presley, You couldn't doubt who Darren was meant to be, from the
moment he walked on stage with his sparkling white diamonte suite straight
out of the Los Vegas scene. We were treated to a selection of Elvis
hits done in Darrens unique style.
We brought the show a little
more up to date with our Carpenters tribute show. Two up tempo songs started the set. Please,
Mr Postman, followed by Sweet Sweet Smile. OK, now it's time to smooch a
little. Pete went on Keyboards and Mandy sang a medley of beautiful
ballads, Won't Last a Day, For All We Know, It's Gonna Take Some
Time and This Masquerade. Then time for everyone to sing along with Top of
the World, Jambalaya and Yesterday Once More. We finished the
set with the song Sing, and everyone joined in with the la la la's. Which
look us into the break nicely.
the Saints were not due to play until
the end of the evening but by popular demand they opened the second half
of the show. The Rock n Rollers came out and filled the dance floor and we
all let our hair down. The Saints were clearly well at home in the
Braza Club, everyone was ready to party the moment they set foot on the
stage. The Saints started with Stood Up ( they certainly made me dizzy
with their up and downs!!!) then Marie Marie and Way Down Yonder. and
ending the set with Just Like Eddie. Absolutely brilliant.
Elle came back for a second set, this
time as Connie Francis. She wore a lovely white Rock and roll 50's dress
with petticoats, really pretty. Starting with Everybody's Somebody's
Fool, we were then treated to Among My Souvenirs and Plenty Good Lovin'.
then hits Where the Boys Are and the fabulous Stupid Cupid. The songs just
kept coming, Carolina Moon and Who's Sorry Now and finally Ricky's
favourite song Lipstick on your Collar.
The kids weren't available for this
show, so Pete did it on his own. He was next to perform with his wonderful rendition of Cliff Richard songs. Dressed in leather trousers
and a sparkly waistcoat He kept the show lively with Move It, Please Don't
Tease and Gee Whiz It's You. The Dancers on the floor continued to give it
everything they'd got. A little more up to date with Carrie and then
back to the sixties with Summer Holiday, I Love You and Livin' Doll, a
special thank you to those that joined in with Livin' Doll. Then came I
Could Easily Fall and Devil Woman, For the romantics Pete sang Miss You
Nights. He finished the set by teaching us to Hand Jive and finally The
Young Ones. Great as Always.
Next we were treated by Paul Neon and
the Saints with their Billy Fury tribute. Paul came on stage with a skin
tight silver suit on, very Billy Fury. A fabulous set followed. Cross My
Heart and Like I've Never Been Gone started the set, the I'd Never
Find Another You and Someday. Make Believe and Type A Letter followed,
then Baby Come On, finally Paul finished with - you've guessed it -
Halfway To Paradise. Well, he could miss it out could he. Absolutely
fabulous
The Evening was finished with the
Saints rocking the night out with the Twist, Summertime Blues, Pretend and
Promised Land. What a night, it was certainly great fun being part of it
and we can't wait to do it all again. thanks guys. We would also like to
thank the Braza Club, committee and members, for their support, we
couldn't have done it without you.
Special thanks to Bob for all his hard work on the lights, sound and
curtains, you may be behind the scenes, but your not forgotten. Well done.
